Chapter Philanthropy

Phi Mu's national philanthropy is Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. One of the best things about CMNH is that all of the money we raise stays local. The Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Mu raises money for Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.

During the fall semester, Alpha Sigma held its  annual Jambalaya Cookoff benefiting CMNH. Student organizations, local businesses, and families created teams and made a donation to participate in the cook-off. During the Fall 2017 Semester we had another great success with our chapter raising about $7,000. For our Fall 2018 Semester we expanded our event by adding kick ball, and the name was changed to Kickin' and Kookin'! We successfully raised about $10,000!!

In the spring, we host our annual male beauty pageant, Big Man on Campus. Men representing different organizations on UL's campus compete to win the grand title and many other special awards throughout the pageant. They participate in different rounds including talent, beauty, and a question round. During the week, contestants and chapter members join forces to collect monetary donations on Rex Street to donate to CMNH.
